A warm welcome to our 2024 festival
from our chair

Welcome to Sale Festival 24! Summer awaits us and this June we have a feast of activities for every age group at venues across Sale.  You will soon be able to find everything on offer on social media and via the ‘What’s On’ pages of Waterside Arts Website.

Our brochure and flyers will be available soon in libraries and across businesses in Sale. Our programme this year responds to the great feedback we had from the survey carried out after last year’s Festival by katy@lifeinsale. There is more for families and children, more doing and learning, and we are working hard with our partners to make your Festival inclusive, diverse and a celebration of local talent and culture.

Highlight events at our Waterside Arts home celebrate Trafford’s young musicians, Irish Music and Dance, spectacular evenings of ballet and opera, Hootin’ Annies big band music with sought after musician and comedian Amy Webber, and a new ‘Showtime 24’ with drama, jazz, dance and song. We also have Blues Dancing, a World Wine Masterclass, Gorse Hill Studio’s successful drama ‘He Loves me, He Loves me not’, a ‘Minifest’ of dance and music for parents and children, and an interaction with ‘AI and Extraterrestrial Intelligence’ in a talk in the Chambers! Sale Library ‘Gets Creative’ for children with craft, poetry, live music and much more. Sale Photographic Society’s exhibition returns to the HIYA Rooms where Trafford Arts present their ‘Showcase’.

There is a brand new ‘Poetry Trail’  as well as traditional events in the parks, the Cruising Club’s Trafford Mayor’s Canal Boat Parade, outdoor learning on the canal and in the ‘Big Red Bus’ at Springfield School and  the new ‘Comic Con’ in Stanley Square.  Music and the ‘1960s’ feature at Sale Sports Club, and community events in local churches are open to all.

We aim to advance learning and to raise funds for our local charities whose care and commitment help bind us together. Do join us and make June in Sale a month to remember.

Thank you!

Steve Hodkinson

Festival Patrons

The Committee of Sale Festival is very grateful to local businesses and organisations who have sponsored the Festival. We appreciate their support even more during the present difficult economic climate. Without them it would probably be impossible to have a Festival on the same scale.

If you are interested in becoming a Patron, please email your name and address and other contact details to admin@salefestival.org.uk and we will get in touch.

Patrons would, unless they indicate otherwise, be acknowledged on this website and (subject to space) on our printed material.

A huge thanks to all the performers, organisations, participants, and staff at Waterside Arts who made last year’s Sale Festival so enjoyable. Thanks to those who have attended events, as a result of great support, the Festival Committee will be able to make donations this year to local charities and organisations who tirelessly work to help members of our community enjoy better lives.

Thanks to our supporters whose donations and help made the Festival possible in 2023 and help us to build foundations for 2024.
